The form of this painted cabinet represents the standard design of cabinet made in Tibet since the 18th century. Prior to the 18th century, only boxes and trunks were used for storage. Tibetan furniture is always colorful. Traditionally, chest with paintings of dragons and snow lions were used in temple, and chest with paintings of floral patterns were used in the homes.
