This table was used as a small painting table. The form and design of the table is typical of Ming style with straight corner legs and high waist. The top frame is beaded around the low concave edges. The waist is decorated with the begonia motives. The table was originally covered with thick lacquer finishes, but due to wear and tear, the original lacquer finishes are gone. The table exemplifies the good taste, clean lines, simple form, and good proportion of Ming style furniture. The only outward feature which reveals that this table is not from the Ming period is the proportion of the upturn of the horse hoof feet. The craftsmanship and execution are of the old Ming tradition.
